IBILE.TV NEWS (LAGOS) – Supporters of the current governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode, have marched on Bourdillon road in Ikoyi to drum up support for his reelection as the primary elections holds on Tuesday.
Governor Ambode is looking to secure his party’s nomination to continue in office although many now think his chances have become slimmer than when he first declared he wanted to continue in office.
Bourdillon road in Ikoyi houses the party’s national leader, Mr. Bola Tinubu, and is popularly referred to as the actual seat of power in Lagos state.
The band of supporters carrying banners and singing songs didn’t number much but they made a stop at Mr. Tinubu’s gate to send their message home.
Close watchers of events in the ruling APC in Lagos state say that the governor has fallen out of favor with his political benefactor and is doing all in his power to clinch the ticket of the party.
A world press conference by Governor Ambode where he openly attacked his rival for the ticket, Mr. Jide Sanwoolu on Sunday may not have helped his chances since many a party faithful see Mr. Sanwoolu as Mr. Tinubu’s preferred candidate.
This really is seen as a desperate and last minute resort to appeal to Bola Tinubu for his support.
